The Roving Richards

A family on the move

Trip to Ireland

Friday, August 3, 2007

As always, we were nervous about the plane ride with our two kids, Genevieve, age 6.5 and Charlotte age 4. You just never know how they are going to behave. They each had a backpack full of art supplies (tape, scissors, colored pencils, etc.), coloring books, two “Chicken Noodle” craft books each and their Leapsters. And a course a bag of junk food they picked out themselves. They were great! Played by themselves, watched the in-flight movie, slept when it was time to sleep, etc. We flew American Airlines from San Francisco to Chicago and on to Dublin, and I think that’s the way to go. The kids played with other kids in Chicago and therefore were ready for their nap on the plane. I also got really lucky and the seat in our row was the only vacant one on the whole plane, so Charlotte got to lay down normally. She woke up and announced proudly “I slept the whole night!” (really two hours).
