This year, we were constrained by Genevieve’s inability to take a long vacation because of her relatively new job in Ireland, combined with Charlotte needing to return to California to start grad school at Stanford. Originally, we wanted to go to Australia, but that required more time than we had. So we thought Turkey, and started to plan that, but then they started to have some civil unrest, and we didn’t know how that was going to shake out (it would have been fine, oh well). I remembered that we all really liked San Sebastian in Spain, so if we incorporated that into our plans, everyone would be happy. The result was a three-city vacation:
